In his latest power-mad rampage, NYAG Eliot Spitzer has subpoenaed major insurance companies in order to conduct an investigation into whether or not the fees that those companies pay to the brokers that sell their service represents a legitimate business practice or a kickback-style conflict of interest; i.e. he wants to determine if people who are paid to sell MetLife insurance are only selling it because they're getting paid to do so.
Rumour has it that on the horizon is a massive project to indict every car dealer in New York state for a massive kickback scheme SPitzer uncovered while getting his Volvo serviced last month ... apparently there are people in virtually every car dealership just hanging around, who pretend to like the cars, but are actually paid a possibly illegal and certainly questionable under-the-table kickback every time someone buys a car on their recommendation!
I'm shocked, shocked! to find people making a living in New York state! Abandon this rathole! Declare Atlanta or New Orleans or Miami the New New York before it's too late!
(but don't tell Spitzer where you're going, for Christ's sake.)
